OpenSRI to launch collaborative web platform

OpenSRI has announced the launch of the first collaborative web platform on Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at http://www.opensri.com  The project is supported by Intertek Group.

OpenSRI offers a new approach to CSR rating based on the involvement of stakeholders, who will rate the social and environmental performance of companies. The objective is to create an ‘innovative and interactive tool' that will foster dialogue on issues between companies and their stakeholders.

Franca Morroni, co-founder of OpenSRI, said it was logical to involve stakeholders in ratings. 'A company's reputation has a very big impact on a stock's price, and reputation is what stakeholders think about a company', she said. 'One of the ideas behind the project is to make CSR methodology more transparent, to multiply the sources of information, and to use the wisdom of the crowd' she added.

However, Morroni said stakeholder ratings would not be the only objective of the new platform, which aims above all to be 'a starting point to foster dialogue between a company and its stakeholders'.

OpenSRI will be accessible free of charge for stakeholders and will allow users to post comments on listed companies.
