Outokumpu's 2009 Corporate Responsibility Report

Outokumpu has published its 2009 corporate responsibility report online at http://www.outokumpu.com/annualreport2009

The Finland-based stainless steel business incorporates the document in its annual report, and looks in particular at how the company has been addressing the financial downturn and the growing challenge of climate change.

Among other things, it reports on how Outokumpu has set a target to reduce its direct and indirect carbon dioxide emissions by 20 per cent by 2020. It also shows that Outokumpu's products have the smallest carbon footprint within the European Union's steel industry.

Outokumpu retained membership in the DJSI STOXX and World sustainability indices, and has been named as a SAM Sector Mover for 2010 in the steel sector for achieving the largest improvement in sustainable performance among top eight steel companies.

The company's corporate responsibility report is based on Global Reporting Initiative G3 guidelines, and has an external independent assurance by PricewaterhouseCoopers Oy.
Assurance provider has also checked the GRI Application Level B+.
