The
Finland-based stainless steel business incorporates the document in its
annual report, and looks in particular at how the company has been
addressing the financial downturn and the growing challenge of climate
change.
Among other things, it reports on how Outokumpu has set
a target to reduce its direct and indirect carbon dioxide emissions by
20 per cent by 2020. It also shows that Outokumpu's products have the
smallest carbon footprint within the European Union's steel industry.
Outokumpu
retained membership in the DJSI STOXX and World sustainability indices,
and has been named as a SAM Sector Mover for 2010 in the steel sector
for achieving the largest improvement in sustainable performance among
top eight steel companies.
The company's corporate
responsibility report is based on Global Reporting Initiative G3
guidelines, and has an external independent assurance by
PricewaterhouseCoopers Oy. Assurance provider has also checked the GRI Application Level B+.
