International Tourism Partnership (ITP) launches new edition of Green Hotelier

ITP – a key programme of the International Business Leaders Forum – has launched the next edition of Green Hotelier, now available online. Themed ‘Water – The looming crisis’, it focuses on the scarcity of this previous natural resource.

ITP’s Green Hotelier website features a comprehensive know-how section on how hotels can improve their water consumption, look at new technologies in the market and read case studies from leading hotels on how to make those changes.

With expanding populations, growing economies and climate change aggravating water scarcity, the result is increasing prices and regulation, and growing competition among stakeholders for access to water. The hospitality sector is a big consumer of water in its bathrooms, swimming pools and golf courses, and is constantly seeking to improve water management.

Water management has been hot on the press recently, with the Financial Times presenting a special report in January on Water and Waste management, with a specific article on the hotels.

Stephen Farrant of the International Tourism Partnership asserts: “Water management is a huge issue for the industry. Some of the more enlightened companies have focused on it, but there is huge scope to do more.”
